We had a satisfactory week last week with a $6 cash with our
optimal lineup after Jason Day lit the world on fire, cementing his position as
the best golfer in the world.
This week, we’re at the PGA Tour Championships from East
Lake Golf Course. This course is a par
70 at just over 7,000 yards. We only
have 30 golfers to choose from this week so if you’re in a large field GPP you
might lean towards picking some of the lesser used guys and leaving some salary
on the board.
As always, the salary information used is from DraftKings,
if you don’t have an account, sign up here. In addition, the statistics and betting odds
used to generate my projections are found on the PGA Tour website and Paddy Power.
Stay tuned later today for the second post containing
the full projections.
Our Favorites
· Jason Day
($12,500) – Jason Day has 4 wins out of his last 6 tournaments and is the
betting favorite. He’s the best golfer
in the world right now. The only
downside to Day is that I’m sure most of the tournament field will have a piece
of him and he’s a very highly priced option.
If he wins this weekend, it’ll be tough to differentiate ourselves.
· Jordan
Spieth ($11,000) – Spieth has the highest birdie or better on Par 4 holes
on tour. This is the key reason to his
high projection this week (scoring 2nd behind Day). He’s been struggling of late which may cause
some of the punters to leave him out of their lineups. He’s too good of a golfer to not jump up the
standings and had a 106 fantasy point performance last week. I was on his boat last week and I think you
should be too.
· Brooks
Koepka ($7,300) – Brooks finished 49th last week for 74 fantasy
points. Prior to that, he was cut twice
in a row. He still projects decently
well and because he’s $7,300, he’s hard to hold out of your lineups (especially
if you have high priced talent on the top of your lineups). He’s been the best value pick all summer and
I don’t see any reason to not choose him this weekend.
· Dustin
Johnson ($9,100) – Dustin projects to have the 4th highest
single round score in my model. He has
the 4th highest birdie or better rate on tour behind the previously
mentioned Day, Spieth and Koepka. He has
two 100+ fantasy point weekends out of his last 4 tournaments and at the 7th
highest price tag, he’s a steal at East Lake.
Injuries
·
Jim Furyk
($7,900) – Jim Furyk withdrew last week due to a wrist contusion. According to ESPN, he will NOT be playing this weekend.
Stay tuned on Wednesday for full projections and optimal
lineup. Good luck this weekend and ABI.
